About
Joseph Murphy
I am an illustrator who uses atmosphere and light to create dream-like images for projects in book publishing, editorial, and entertainment fields.
As a graduate of Syracuse University, I earned my MFA in Illustration. I also teach as an adjunct illustration instructor and give visiting artist lectures.
My work has appeared in juried shows and exhibitions through the Society of Illustrators of New York/Los Angeles, American Illustration, 3×3 Magazine, Creative Quarterly, The World Illustration Awards, Infected By Art, Lucca Comics & Games’ Overluk Annual, ICON (National Illustration Conference), Sager Reeves Gallery, The Hive Gallery, Rogue Space Gallery, and the Stone Quarry Hill Art Park. Creative Quarterly also ranked my work as part of the “100 Best Illustrations of 2016.”
A select list of my clients include Pearson Education, Say Yes To Education, Virginia Living Magazine, Syracuse University Publications, School of Information Studies Magazine, Syracuse Opera, and Turning Stone Resort & Casino. I have also been acquired into the private collection of the Oneida Indian Nation.
My work has been featured in ImagineFX Magazine and international blogs such as Creative Boom, Creative Digest, and Supersonic Art. I am also a member of the Society of Illustrators.
